Electrosonography (K7 ESG) joint vibration recording of Scan 15 is a powerful tool every K7 users in this world of NM dentistry today must know in order to understand joint vibration recordings.
- This is a Special NEW 2 DAY course focused on K7 ESG Scan 15 analysis and application.
- This Scan 15 course will help you grasp ESG and what it all means in a detailed manner.
- This course will provide a solid clinical understanding, application, interpretation skills and use of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis on jaw joint sound patterns, frequency ranges, amplitude peak patterns and sound location in order to arrive at an accurate TM joint diagnosis.
- This ESG/joint vibration recording material has never been taught like this anywhere in the world.
- Every K7 NM/GNM dentists should know and learn this information which has never been presented like this anywhere in the NM community.
When looking at a ESG Scan 15, I believe it important for every K7 dentist to know how to use Scan 15, analyze and interpret the joint sound patterns in order to identify the correct TM joint condition based on objective measurements in detail:
- Location of sound – early, mid or late opening or early, mid or late closing sounds
- Frequency ranges – High or low frequency peak sounds
- Amplitude – high or low sounds
- Peak Patterns – single or multiple peak coming to baseline or not coming to baseline
Knowing how to arrive at an accurate joint condition using the dynamic K7 ESG Scan 15 goes beyond looking at a CBCT image (static) – A correct diagnosis can be derived based on objective data, not guessing.
As a K7 clinician it is imperative to know how to use the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) tool which is important and a critical part of the K7 ESG package. Where in this world can a dentist dive into ESG Scan 15 to advance their understanding and master it?
Course Objectives:
Understanding the six stages of clinical conditions of the temperomandibular joint when interpreting ESG/joint vibration recorded sound patterns is key when the patient demonstrates signs and symptoms that overlap the symptom free stage, to the early stages, intermittent stage and late stages of internal derangement.
Correctly interpreting the acoustic signatures from the K7 ESG recordings is based on knowing the clinical thresholds related to amplitude and frequency ranges to prevent misdiagnosis of sound.
Applying the Fast Fourier Transfer (FFT) is used to analyze all ESG joint vibration sounds when examination of the joint signature patterns that are displayed during and opening/closing cycle rather than analyzing isolated sound patterns.
Clinical and observable features as they relate to the muscles and occlusal signature patterns are differentiated when analyzing ESG/joint vibration recording frequency relationships of joint pathology.
Interpretation of multiple peak frequencies, the meaning of "returning to baseline" as joint sounds relate to frequency range, peak patterns, joint conditions and location of sound when using the FFT feature is a missing key when mastering the K7 ESG/ joint vibration recording.
This course will also give clinical examples of how to analyze joint sounds using FFT and the filtering tool in order to arrive at a proper diagnosis.
You Will Learn:
How to decipher K7 ESG Scan 15's joint sound patterns.
Wave patterns, 3 tissue states and why joint vibrational recording is important to understand. Differentiating acoustic signature patterns and defining clinical features you see on a sonogram.
How to interpret high and low amplitude peak patterns and their thresholds. The clinical significance of high vs. low frequency ranges as they related to dominate vs. multiple peaks returning or not returning to baseline when using the Fast Fourier Transfer analysis tool.
How to objectively arrive a the correct joint conditions based on measured ESG recordings of physiologic, pathoformic and pathologic conditions.
You will learn the 6 different temperomandibular joint conditions based on ESG frequency range and peak patterns of sound. Sonography frequency relationships to joint pathology/conditions
Inter-operational protocols. You will learn how to record, read/interpret and apply K7 ESG Scan 15 in your clinical practice to arrive at the correct disc interference disorder (internal derangement) when classifying the craniomandibular disorders.
Application, protocols, tips and techniques will be presented along with clinical examples.

Dr. Chan is renowned for his comprehensive training course
manuals that are printed in text format with clear diagrams. His course
manual systematically covers all the K7 scans and expounds how to
interpret the scans clinically in this over 400 page text. Dr. Chan's SI
course has been recognized by top K7 clinicians in the world be the
best ever for its complete and thoroughness. He is an occlusion teacher,
researcher and author of many published articles and is well qualified
to interpret the K7 scans.
Doctor Reviews of This Course:
"For
those who want to understand Sonography, this is “the only course in
town”. Sonography is sort of like an onion…there are layers.
Clayton has put together a system that filters down your
data to a more definite diagnosis. It will also provide evidence
that your treatment is improving. I feel empowered and confident in
learning how to interpret Sonography after this course. Thanks-Clayton
And Jane" - Jay B. Terrell, D.D.S., Dallas, Tx (OC Level 1-9, Ortho 1-3)
"The sonography course expanded my understanding of scan 15. I have to admit it was the weakest scan for me regarding interpretation of the data, but I feel confident that I can come up with the proper diagnosis and prove it with the appropriate acoustic signature documentation. Thank you Clayton and Jane for always lifting us up and making us feel welcome. It was also so nice to see old friends and make new ones at these events." - Michael R. Miyamoto, D.D.S., Wailuku, HI (OC Level 1-9, Ortho 1-2)
"This is new level of understanding joint sounds using the K7, very informative and deep. I am forever grateful for Dr Chan teachings and Jane for hosting the course. Thanks Keith for encouraging Dr Chan to put this course together." - Maha Elgaili Karar, D.M.D., Orland Park, IL (OC Level 1-9, Orthotic Resurfacing)
"Dr Chan's newest Level 9 Scan 15 ESG course is a truly enlightening added step in sharpening our skills, enhancing our diagnostic abilities and increasing our overall patient care and success. Many thanks to Clayton, Jane and Keith for making this high level Scan 15 course a reality and urge all my GNM colleagues to bring this added knowledge and understanding into your already high level of care." - Gregg R. Melfi, D.D.S., Swansea, MA (OC Level 1-9, Ortho 1-2)
"It’s 2:30 AM and I just got back home from Las Vegas. I’m tired! I felt that before I go to bed I need to thank Clayton and Jane for taking the time to put together this class for us. There’s nothing like it in the world. Myotronics couldn’t really have a class on this topic, even though they developed this superb technology that allows us to objectively look at TMJ joint sounds. This was because of FDA concerns. So Fray and Clayton were able to put this together to give in an OC setting. I suggest anybody who is serious about using their K7 for all it’s capabilities - take this course. I hope it will be given again sometime in the next year. Thank you Keith, for encouraging Clayton to work on this." - Stephen C. Fisher, D.D.S., Clarksville, AK (OC Level 1-9, Ortho 1-3, Orthotic Resurfacing)
"The efficiency gained by applying your technique allowed for a rapid and accurate diagnosis of the joint sounds. This improved efficiency is invaluable, allowing more time for patient care and less time spent on tedious analysis. The immediate feedback and results obtained in this case demonstrate the power of your Scan 15 ESG course teachings. Thank you again for sharing your expertise. It's truly remarkable how a small adjustment can create such a significant and measurable difference in patient outcomes." - - Sid Solomon, D.D.S., Los Angeles, CA (OC Level 1-9, Ortho 1-2, Orthotic Resurfacing)
